iPhone5 Vs Galaxy S4: Design
The Samsung Galaxy S4 looks much similar to its predecessor the Samsung Galaxy S3. That implies the use of a plastic removable battery cover, rather than a metal or unibody chassis.
It is available in black and white. The 7.7mm thick Galaxy S4 is just 1.1mm thicker than the Apple iPhone 5, and 1mm thinner than the Galaxy S3. The build quality of Galaxy S4 is impressive.
Apple’s iPhone 5 also looks similar to its processors. The aluminum body of the iPhone 5 feels quite familiar, which is the major difference between these two devices. It offers a harder feel to the phone, without increasing its weight.
The small and light iPhone 5 is just 112g compared to the 133g Galaxy S4. The huge screen of the Galaxy S4 has made it much larger than the iPhone 5.
Just like the iPhone 5, the Samsung Galaxy S4 comes in 2 finishes. There is Slate, which is a plain white and dark black/grey.
Though you may assume that plastic is weaker than metal, owners of iPhone 5 need to be really careful as aluminum can get scratched quite easily. It is found that black/slate iPhone are more prone to damage.
The iPhone 5 and Galaxy S4 may just be 0.1mm apart in terms of thickness, but the bigger 4.99-inch Super AMOLED screen of the Galaxy S4 is what makes the real difference between these two.
It is a bit problematic to handle the huge screen of Galaxy S4, but the large screen is a great bonus if you are looking for a phone to watch movies and videos on.
Apples has used an IPS display on its 4-inch screen that comes with the pixel density of 720pm, but the 4.99-inch AMOLED screen of the Galaxy S4 has the pixel density of whopping 1080p.The Super AMOLED display uses a PenTile based subpixels.
The PenTile does reduce some clarity, but you are very unlikely to notice any difference in sharpness, as the pixel density of Galaxy S4 is much higher than that of iPhone 5.
Compared to the IPS, the OLED display offers incredible black levels and contrast. Samsung also boasts the Galaxy S4 to feature nigh-on perfect blacks.
iPhone 5 Vs Galaxy S4: Storage
Both the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S4 come with the similar storage options; 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models. However, the major difference is that the Galaxy S4 features a microSD card slot, while there is no microSD card slot in the iPhone 5 for external expansion of memory.
The Apple iPhone 5 is powered by an A6 dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and PowerVR SGX 543 GPU, while the Galaxy S4 is powered by the Exynos 5 Octa-core chip and 2GB RAM.
In some markets the Galaxy S4 also comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, a quad-core processor clocked at 1.9GHz. Compared to the Octa-core variant, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 is less powerful, but it is much faster than its current Snapdragon rivals, like the HTC One.
The 1.2GHz dual-core processor of iPhone 5 is comparatively less powerful than the Octa-core processor, but the PowerVR SGX 543 GPU of iPhone 5 is more powerful than the Adreno 320 GPU of Galaxy S4.
